If Roses Grow in Heaven – Poem

If Roses Grow in Heaven

If Roses grow in Heaven
Lord, please pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my Mother’s arms
and tell her they’re from me.

Tell her that I love her and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for a while.

Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
but there’s an ache within my heart
that will never go away.

  1. I am trying to express in words, but no words could ever express how much reading your poems have touched my heart forever.I lost my precious Mother on the 2nd February 2012,she died of breast cancer,a week after her 64th Birthday. The pain is at times unbearable I miss her so much.Your strength, wisdom and total honesty, have inspired me. I would like to express my gratitude for allowing your counselling journals and articles to reach others. I have learned so much from reading your learning journals, thank you.I am attending an Access to Higher Education Level 3 Counselling Course, part time, and I am 45years old.You are a very special person,

    Kind regards,

    Stephanie

  2. Stephanie, it was such a pleasure to hear from you – thank you for leaving a message and letting me know that the poems have touched you. Bereavement can be such a lonely place and I am pleased that the poem was able to enter your heart. I don’t think the pain ever goes away when we lose someone we love – there are always moments when we wish we could have just one more second with them.

Congratulations on starting your Level 3 Counselling. How are you finding it? I wish you the very best and would love an update when you get time.

    Take care of yourself, Stephanie.

  3. Ingrid, Thank you so much for this Beautiful and Meaningful Poem! YOU are so very thoughtful and kind! Bless your Heart!! Love, Jane
