Your Path to Recovery
For many months I have had the pleasure of collaborating with Nutritional Advisor, Eating Disorder Specialist, and Personal Trainer Emma Bacon on the ‘Eating Disorder Recovery Handbook: A Practical Guide for Long-term Recovery.’
This manual is for anyone who suffers, has suffered, or knows someone who suffers from an eating disorder, whether it is anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, or any other eating disorder. We give you practical insight into disordered eating and help you to better understand yourself in order to recover; physically, mentally, and emotionally. Disordered eating does not exist in a vacuum and cannot be fully addressed in a vacuum.
The Eating Disorder Recovery Handbook will take you, step-by-step through the recovery process, regardless of where you currently stand in your journey to recovery. We give practical exercises that you can complete on your own and at your own pace, or work through in group therapy sessions or with close friends and family members. Each chapter has a quote from someone who has experienced the same situation and has worked their way through it. It is important to know that you are not alone in your journey.
The Eating Disorder Recovery Handbook is not only for those who suffer from an eating disorder. If a friend or family member is suffering from an eating disorder, this manual will be a valuable aid to help you to understand what they are going through and what you can do to support and encourage them. More importantly, it will help you to determine whether any of your actions may be causing your loved one unintentional harm.
The individual worksheets included in the manual make The Eating Disorder Recovery Handbook a useful aid for therapists/counsellors working with clients who have eating disorders, and provides a practical structure for support groups.
